Kalle Rovanperä (Toyotya Yaris WRC) set the sharpest time during the shakedown of the Monza rally on Thursday evening. Rovanperä was three tenths of a second faster than Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC). Adrien Fourmaux (Ford Fiesta WRC) was third, 1 second behind Rovanperä.

Of the title contenders, Elfyn Evans (Toyota Yaris WRC) was the fastest. Evans was fourth fastest and was 1.3 slower than Rovanperä. World Cup leader Sébastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris WRC) set the eighth fastest time and was 3.7 slower.
In addition to Thierry Neuville, another Belgian is taking part in the final race of the WRC with Grégoire Munster. Munster, who has a double passport, drives with his Luxembourg license. Munster will start in Monza for the first time with his new Hyundai i20 N Rally2, a car that he will also drive during the Rally of Spa. On Thursday he drove the eighteenth fastest time overall, fifth in WRC3.
The Monza rally starts Friday morning. There will be seven classification stages on Friday.
