Spaniard Marc Marquez (Honda) crashed heavily on Saturday in the third free practice session of the Grand Prix of Spain. The six-time MotoGP world champion crashed on the track in Jerez in the same place where he broke his right upper arm last year.
Marquez was straight after the crash at 180km / h in a left turn. “The medical check shows that Marc Marquez has not suffered any major injuries. He only suffers from a bruise ”, Honda reports on Twitter. A relief because his engine flew very close to the body of the Spaniard.
Marquez made his return to the Grand Prix of Portugal in Portimao two weeks ago. The 28-year-old Spaniard was sidelined for about nine months due to a complicated arm fracture. He was operated on three times. Marquez had to watch his fellow countryman Joan Mir dethroned him as world champion. He also missed the first two races of this season in Qatar.
Marquez was not the only MotoGP rider who crashed hard on Saturday. KTM pilot Brad Binder also sought out the gravel in Spain.
