Last weekend images surfaced on social media of ‘Verstappen fans setting fire to merchandising’ of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. When asked about the images after the Hungarian GP, Max Verstappen condemned such behaviour.

“Something like that is of course unacceptable,” says Verstappen in a reaction to the images. “Those individuals, I certainly don’t agree, it’s horrific.”

“But most of the fans were cheering for everyone during the race, and also on the podium. That’s how I think it should be.”

“Those videos, or that particular video of merchandising being burned, that’s really horrific.”

The images surfaced just as Formula 1 launched a new campaign against inappropriate behavior during race weekends.
