Nothing has encapsulated the initial results of the Community Edition Project launched last month, in which users were invited to refine the design of the Phone (2a) smartphone. The manufacturer aims to bring the best design to life.
The winners of the competition were Kenta and Astrid, who co-manage an architectural company. They proposed creating a phosphorescent version of the Nothing Phone (2a). Their idea involves using a green phosphorescent material for the back panel of the smartphone, which emits a soft glow in the dark, similar to the technology used in mechanical watches. Importantly, this solution does not require additional power, and the glow can last for hours until it gradually fades, requiring a “charge” with sunlight.
Currently, Kenta and Astrid will collaborate with Nothing to finalize the project. It is important to note that the presented version may undergo several revisions before the final product is achieved.
The company received over 400 applications in total. The authors of the best submissions will receive incentive prizes.
