Of course we have to admit that the Golf R is a lot more car than the Golf GTI. Both have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine in the front, but that’s where the engine similarities end. The GTI transmits 245 hp and 350 Nm to its front wheels and goes from a standstill to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. The R is just as 320 hp and 420 Nm (!) Strong. It is four-wheel drive and shifts fast enough through its seven DSG gears to reach 100 in 4.7 seconds.

Volkswagen Golf R price can be much crazier

For the Golf GTI, Volkswagen wants at least 50,990 euros, the Golf R is available from 65,490 euros. Almost 15,000 euros difference, but that difference can be made much bigger. For example, you can order the Volkswagen Golf R with an R Performance package. That costs 3444 euros and adds a drift mode, 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels, a Motorsport roof spoiler and a limiter that only intervenes at 270 km / h. For another 2846 euros you can order an Acrapovic exhaust system.

For leather in Golf R you pay 2624 euros extra

Do you want a cabin for Nappa leather? That is possible, but then you have to pay 2624 euros extra. LED Matrix headlights cost 885 euros, an adaptive chassis costs you 784 euros and for other colors except white you have to pay extra (Deep Black: 802 euros, Lapix Blue: 939 euros). The Golf R is equipped as standard with LED headlights and rear lights, 18-inch Jerez wheels, three-zone automatic climate control, a digital cockpit, various electronic driving assistants, an infotainment system with a 10-inch screen and voice control.
