Max Verstappen set the fastest time during the last practice session for the GP of Spain. The Dutchman thus succeeds in putting Mercedes under pressure.
Yesterday Mercedes placed both cars at the very top and Max Verstappen did not get further than a ninth fastest time. So during the last practice session it was up to Red Bull to react and fight back over the weekend.
Home driver and two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso was the first driver to take to the track, beginning a final dress rehearsal before qualifying and the race.
The drivers were given the last chance to push the limits of the circuit and the car, although watching out for the gravel strips and gravel boxes next to the circuit. For example, we saw Lando Norris end up in the gravel with his McLaren.
At the end of the session we saw the lap times drop and it was Max Verstappen who put the pressure on Mercedes.
In the end, nobody went under the time of Max Verstappen and the Red Bull driver was the fastest before Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari also had a strong practice session with a third and fourth time for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
