Last month, we were initially informed about Google’s decision to relaunch its Pixel tablet without the bundled speaker dock. Subsequently, the alleged price was also leaked. Today, alongside the unexpected announcement of the Pixel 8a smartphone, Google has officially confirmed these rumors.
Now, you have the option to purchase the Pixel tablet without the dock at a significant discount. The tablet starts at $499 with the dock, but you can now order one without the dock for $399. This price is for the version with 128GB of storage; if you prefer 256GB, it will cost $499.
If you find the dock useful, the price difference may not matter to you. However, many customers are likely to be pleased with the £100 price reduction. If you order a dockless Pixel tablet today, Google promises delivery to your doorstep in the UK starting May 14.
The reason behind Google’s delayed introduction of this dockless option for its tablet is unclear to us, but we are delighted that it has finally arrived. In the UK, the price is £399 for 128GB of storage and £519 for 256GB. In the EU, prices are €499 for 128GB and €619 for 256GB (which are still £100 / €100 less compared to the dock-inclusive prices).
Other than the absence of the dock, the Pixel tablet remains unchanged from its original release last June. It features a 10.95-inch 1600×2560 LCD touchscreen, the Tensor G2 chipset, 8GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, and a 7,020 mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging.
