One of the big things in One UI 6.1 was Galaxy AI – it permeates every part of the system, from something as simple as writing text to more advanced image editing functions (for more details, check out our review). Rumor has it that it will be expanded with “video AI” for One UI 6.1.1. But what will the next big release bring?
We don’t know yet, but we do know that Samsung is already testing One UI 7.0. An internal test build was spotted by Tarun Vats. The build versions were S928BXXU2BXE2/S928BOXM2BXE2/S928BXXU2BXD4.
One UI 7.0 build running on a Galaxy S24 Ultra
S928 represents the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, where “B” indicates that this is the European version of the phone. All Ultra models utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, even the European ones. Not that it matters, as the three S24 models follow the same software update schedule.
Additionally, older Galaxys should also receive One UI 7.0/Android 15. The Samsung Galaxy S21 series was initially expected to receive 3 OS updates, ending its support cycle on Android 14. However, Samsung has extended this to 4 OS updates, making it the oldest Galaxy generation likely to receive One UI 7.0. The Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 are in a similar situation (though they are a few months younger).
The new flagship version will most likely debut with the Galaxy S25 series early next year before being extended to older models. In the meantime, leaks will likely provide insight into what version 7.0 will entail.
