The popularity of Formula 1 in America continues to increase, which can also be deduced from the viewing figures for the Miami GP, which shattered records.
Thanks in part to the Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’, Formula 1 became extremely popular in America. The return of an American race on the F1 calendar, and in the meantime even three American races on the F1 calendar, made the sport even more popular and this is also reflected in the viewing figures of the Miami GP this year.
An average of 3.1 million viewers tuned in to TV channel ‘ABC’ to watch the Miami GP and the viewing figure even peaked at 3.6 million viewers. This shattered the previous record of the very first Miami GP in 2022, which stood at 2.6 million viewers. An average of around 946,000 viewers watched the sprint race on Saturday.
For the American Liberty Media, which owns Formula 1, the viewing figures and popularity of Formula 1 in America confirm that they have made the right decisions to grow the sport worldwide, and in particular in America.
