According to the Italian ‘Formu1a.uno’, Ferrari will conduct a ‘secret test’ at the Fiorano circuit to evaluate the updates for its SF-24 F1 car.
Ferrari wants to introduce a major package of updates to its car during the Emilia-Romagna GP. The package of updates should ensure that Ferrari can further close the gap with Red Bull and can also continue to compete with McLaren. The package of updates is said to include a new sidepod design inspired by the Red Bull RB20.
No testing is allowed during the F1 season, but Ferrari is allowed to organize two filming days during the year, covering a maximum of 200 km and in principle these are intended for promotional purposes. In practice, however, they are also often used to do a shakedown of a new F1 car.
According to ‘Formu1a.uno’, testing would take place in Fiorano on Thursday and Friday this week and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz would both be behind the wheel of the SF-24. Ferrari wants to evaluate the updates in this way before they are introduced during the Emilia-Romagna GP.
