Google has finally unveiled the Pixel 8a, the latest A-series device and the most affordable option in the Pixel 8 lineup.
The Pixel 8a features an updated design compared to its predecessor, aligning more closely with the new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The rounded edges have been replaced by more rounded corners. The phone sports a plastic back and aluminum frame with a smooth matte texture, along with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. It is IP67 dust and water resistant, making it the most durable A-series phone from Google yet.
The phone comes in four colors: Bay, Aloe, Porcelain, and Obsidian.

The Pixel 8a boasts a new 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1800 and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen can reach up to 1400 nits while playing HDR content and peak at 2000 nits.
The phone features a dual camera system on the back, comprising a 64MP f1.89 primary camera and a 13MP f2.2 ultrawide. The front houses a 13MP f2.2 shooter. All cameras can record 4K 30fps video, with the rear cameras capable of 4K 60fps as well.
In addition, the Pixel 8a offers features like astrophotography timelapse, 240fps slow motion, fused video stabilization, Cinematic Pan, 5x digital zoom, and optical image stabilization on the main wide-angle camera. On the software side, you get Magic Editor, Best Take, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Face Unblur, Real Tone, Top Shot, Live HDR+, and Ultra HDR.
Powering the Pixel 8a is Google’s Tensor G3 chipset with Titan M2 security processor. It packs 8GB of LPDDR5x memory and comes in either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The phone houses a 4492mAh battery that, according to Google, offers over 24 hours of battery life. It supports 18W wired fast charging and Qi wireless charging.
The Pixel 8a ships with Android 14 and, like other Pixel 8 devices, will receive seven years of OS, security, and Feature Drop updates. It will also receive exclusive features from Google like Circle to Search, Pixel Call Assist, Audio Emoji, and Gemini.
Other features of the Pixel 8a include stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, USB 3.2 connectivity, NFC, and dual-SIM (nano + eSIM) support.
The Pixel 8a is priced at $499 / INR 52,999 for the 128GB model and $559 / INR 59,999 for the 256GB model. Pre-orders in the US start today, and the device will be available from May 14. Pre-orders in India begin on May 7 at 9:30 PM IST on Flipkart, with sales starting on May 14 at 6:30 AM IST.
Additionally, Google announced that the Pixel tablet without the charging speaker dock can be purchased for $399 starting today. It is available for pre-order now and will be released on May 14th.
