Recently, there was a report claiming that Xiaomi had the exclusive first launch rights to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. Today, a new rumor tells us when we can expect the launch. According to the prolific Digital Chat Station, the first device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is tentatively scheduled to arrive in mid-October.
If the previous report about Xiaomi’s exclusivity was accurate, this means that the Xiaomi 15 (and possibly the 15 Pro alongside it) will become official in mid-October.
Xiaomi 14
Of course, a lot can change between now and then since we are still quite far from that moment. It’s worth noting that the Xiaomi 14 was announced on October 26 last year. So mid-October this time would only mean an unveiling about one to two weeks earlier than what happened in 2023 – it’s definitely not a stretch.
It is important to note that the initial launch of the Xiaomi 15 will likely be for the Chinese market only, as has been the case for the company’s flagships for several years now. The Xiaomi 14 first made its international debut at MWC in February.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to achieve a single-core score of around 2,700 and a multi-core score of around 10,000 in Geekbench, according to Digital Chat Station. The CPU is said to contain two extra-large cores that will be clocked at 3.6 to 4 GHz. The leak tells us to expect relatively large theoretical performance improvements on both the CPU and the GPU side.
If this information holds true, Xiaomi fans in the UK can anticipate the release of the Xiaomi 15 series around mid-October, potentially one to two weeks earlier than the Xiaomi 14’s launch last year. With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 promising significant performance upgrades, the upcoming devices are sure to generate excitement among tech enthusiasts.
Considering Xiaomi’s trend of initially releasing flagship models in the Chinese market before expanding globally, consumers in the UK may have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the new devices. However, based on previous years, it is likely that the Xiaomi 15 series will eventually make its way to the UK market, following its international debut at events like the Mobile World Congress.
For UK consumers, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s projected performance figures of 2,700 for the single-core score and 10,000 for the multi-core score on Geekbench indicate a significant leap in processing power. With two extra-large cores running at impressive clock speeds, users can expect enhanced performance across both CPU and GPU tasks, promising a smooth and efficient user experience.
