Previously, premium features have gradually made their way down to mid-range and even entry-level devices, and the new vivo Y18 is a prime example of this trend. The phone was quietly listed by vivo on its Indian website without much fanfare, boasting a premium design on the back that utilizes a 3D micro-sculpting process in the Gem Green variant, creating silver ripples on the back plate. Paired with a nm-scale coating, this results in a jewel-like texture, hence the name of the color.
Another color option is the more understated Space Black, which exhibits a subtle ‘starry night’ appearance upon closer inspection. The Y18 also features stereo speakers, an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, and a 50 MP main camera on the back.

Additionally, it includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button and what vivo calls the segment’s brightest display, reaching 840 nits in High Brightness mode. While this may not seem impressive for an OLED panel, considering it’s an LCD screen, the performance is quite remarkable. It also boasts “genuine eye protection” certified by TUV.
The phone’s display measures 6.56 inches with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 720×1612 resolution. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G85 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of expandable storage. The front camera is 8 MP, and the Y18 houses a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging. Running on Android 14 with vivo’s Funtouch OS 14, the phone’s dimensions are 163.63 x 75.58 x 8.39mm, weighing 185g.
