Huawei has now made the Pura 70 series available to international buyers, and many are curious to know if the standout feature of the Ultra is its retractable lens.
A popular YouTube channel, WekiHome, recently conducted a teardown of both the Pura 70 Pro and the Pura 70 Ultra, revealing some minor differences between the two models despite sharing a similar internal architecture.
An important change in the Pro version is the swap in positions of the main camera and the telephoto lens. This adjustment was made because the sensor does not require as much light.
NFC, the wireless coil, and the heat dissipation film are nearly identical in both models. Although the functionality remains the same, the flash cable has been repositioned between the main and telephoto sensors.
Regarding sensors, the Pura 70 Pro features a 50 MP OmniVision 50H sensor, sized at 1/1.3”. It includes a six-panel retractable lens with an aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. During our hands-on experience, we found that there are physically nine different diaphragm steps.
The motherboard of the Pura 70 Pro is designed with a double-layer stacked board, similar to the Ultra. Huawei opted for a simple copper alloy for the VC in this phone instead of the composite materials used in the Ultra, making the chamber twice as heavy.
However, the Pura 70 Pro has a glass panel on the back instead of faux leather, resulting in a slightly lighter overall weight.
The cost of the Pura 70 Pro in Europe is €1,199 for the 12GB + 512GB version. Buyers can choose between White and Black as the Purple variant will not be available in Europe.
