According to F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, Lewis Hamilton will have to adapt to the mentality within Ferrari in order to be successful.
It was the big surprise of the season, the announced switch of Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes to Ferrari at the end of this year. It was not only big news at the time of the announcement, but even now there are often reports about the future switch and, according to Stefano Domenicali, that is very good news for the sport.
“This is great news for Formula 1,” F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, who was team boss at Ferrari from 2008 to 2014, told ‘Sky Sports F1′. “It’s a new opportunity, a new chapter in Lewis’ career and a new chapter for Ferrari too.”
“These ingredients have ensured that we are already in 2025, even though we are still at the beginning of the 2024 chapter. I think it will be an incredible story.”
It is striking that despite Lewis Hamilton’s very long F1 career in Formula 1, Ferrari will only be the third team for which Lewis Hamilton will race. That in itself will be a challenge for Hamilton, according to Stefano Domenicali. After all, he only has to adapt to a new team for the second time, but a special team with a special atmosphere.
“Lewis will have to understand the mentality of Maranello and Italy and I am sure he is curious about that,” said Domenicali. “On the other hand, when such an incredible personality comes to a team and Ferrari, there will be a huge amount of focus on him.”
“Charles will see this as a new ‘fire’ for himself to push himself and be even stronger, so I think this is all positive for the team.”
