Images of protective glass for the cameras of two upcoming Sony smartphones, the Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI, have surfaced on the website of Japanese retailer Rakuten Market. These images clearly illustrate the shape of the rear camera modules of the devices, showcasing an increase in size compared to current models in the same series.
The images highlight the camera blocks of the devices in comparison to the current versions. The protector for the Xperia 1 VI measures 1.5 x 5.2 cm, indicating a larger module than its predecessor. Despite the size increase, the number of sensors will remain the same, with the flash and a cutout for the microphone staying in place.
Insiders suggest that the Xperia 1 VI will feature the same camera sensor setup as the Xperia 1 V, including a 48-megapixel main sensor and two 12-megapixel sensors for ultra-wide and telephoto capabilities. Expected software enhancements promise improved shooting quality. Other rumored features include a 6.5-inch screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and up to 16 GB of RAM.
For the Xperia 10 VI, the rear camera module is also expected to increase in size, from 1 x 3.2 cm to 1.6 x 3.3 cm, and will feature two sensors and an oval LED flash between them.
Rumors suggest that the price of the Sony Xperia 1 VI will be at least £1,200, while information on the Xperia 10 VI model is not yet available. The presentation of both new products is set for May 17.
