According to the reliable source of Apple-related supply chain information, Ming-Chi Kuo, the outlook for the Vision Pro headset is not as promising as expected. Kuo reports that Apple has reduced its full-year shipment estimates (and consequently production orders) to 400,000-450,000 units, compared to the “market consensus” of 700,000-800,000 units or more.
This adjustment was made prior to the headset’s launch in markets outside the US, which resulted in a significant drop in demand in the US, falling well below the company’s initial expectations. Consequently, due to the sharp decline in US demand, Apple is adopting a cautious approach towards demand in other markets where the Vision Pro will be introduced later this year.
The Vision Pro appears to have had its moment in the spotlight, only to fade into obscurity as its novelty diminished.
Rumors suggest that Apple is reevaluating and adjusting its future release roadmap, which indicates that there may not be a new Vision Pro model in 2025. Additionally, Apple anticipates a decrease in Vision Pro shipments in 2025 compared to 2024.
