Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the FIA, has responded to the investigation into Christian Horner for ‘transgressive behavior’.
Following the news in February that Red Bull team principal Christian Horner was under investigation for ‘transgressive behavior’, an external lawyer concluded a few weeks later that the complaint was baseless. Red Bull released a statement stating that the case had been closed. However, less than 24 hours later, an email containing WhatsApp conversations between Horner and the alleged victim was sent to over 150 F1 insiders.
Subsequently, the woman who lodged the complaint has taken further steps, but the FIA has been notably quiet on the matter in recent months. Despite this, the FIA consistently maintains that the reputation of the sport and the organization must not be tarnished. While sanctions and fines are often swiftly implemented, in this case, they have not been.
According to the Italian publication ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has now addressed the issue.
“I regret the situation for all parties involved, but the FIA has no role in this,” Mohammed Ben Sulayem told AFP, reported by the Italian newspaper. “We cannot exacerbate the situation. I trust the integrity of the investigation that was carried out. The other party has the right to appeal, but the FIA is not directly involved in this matter.”
