Samsung’s Galaxy Ring was initially teased in January, then shown at MWC in February, and is expected to be fully announced in July at the company’s next Unpacked unveiling event, where the next Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold will also be revealed.
Currently, it is believed that there will be a total of eight different Galaxy Ring sizes, as a new leak suggests that Samsung may have settled on this number. The model numbers for the rings are as follows: SM-Q500, SM-Q501, SM-Q502, SM-Q505, SM-Q506, SM-Q507, SM-Q508, and SM-V509.
It’s worth noting that there are two missing numbers in the sequence, specifically SM-Q503 and SM-Q504. The reason for this discrepancy is unclear, but it is possible that ten sizes were initially planned, then two were removed before finalizing the lineup.
According to the leak, SM-Q500 will be the smallest size, while SM-Q509 will be the largest. If two sizes were indeed removed before launch, it is interesting that they were both on the smaller side.
Although much of this information is speculation at this point, one thing is clear – designing rings is more complex than smartwatches, which typically come in one or two sizes. With Samsung planning to offer the Galaxy Ring in three colors as well, the number of variations is extensive. Therefore, it is understandable if the company opted for the least number of sizes possible.
The Galaxy Ring is expected to have a battery life of up to nine days on a single charge (benefiting from not having a screen) and will include features such as sleep tracking and possibly NFC for payments.
