The family of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher hopes the luxury watch collection will raise at least £5 million.
In a few weeks, Michael Schumacher’s family plans to auction his personal collection of luxury watches. The decision to auction the watches was reportedly made by his wife Corinna, who previously sold other family belongings including a private jet and a house in Norway.
The auction will take place in Geneva on May 13, 2024 and will include eight luxury watches, two of which were a gift from friend of the house and former Ferrari team boss Jean Todt.
One of these watches, a unique FP Journe Vagabondage 1 Model that Todt gave to Schumacher at Christmas 2004 to celebrate his seventh world championship, is expected to fetch between £1.7 million and £3.4 million.
The watch is decorated with the Ferrari logo, symbols representing Schumacher’s seven world titles and a personal message from Jean Todt. Another gift from the Frenchman is a custom-made example from 2003 that will fetch approximately between £255,000 and £425,000.
In addition, five limited edition 2004 FP Journe watches are available, expected to sell for between £1.8 million and £3 million.
Among the notable pieces is a “historically important, extremely rare and highly attractive” 14K gold Rolex Daytona that was gifted to Schumacher by his longtime manager, Willi Weber.
