Despite Lando Norris’ contract extension with McLaren, Red Bull remains, according to Dr. Helmut Marko still has a concrete interest in Lando Norris.
Lando Norris’ contract with McLaren normally expires at the end of 2025, but earlier this year Norris signed a multi-year contract extension. At McLaren they tried to keep their ‘goldcrest’ longer, but that also means that Lando Norris will not be leaving.
At Red Bull they reportedly still leave Lando Norris on their list of possible future drivers, Dr. Helmut Marko know.
“He is young and definitely part of our focus,” Marko told ‘ServusTV’. “His father always jokes that Lando won’t get his first F1 win before Max Verstappen retires.”
“I told him that Lando should come to us, that it would definitely go faster.”
A race seat may become available at Red Bull Racing in 2025 because Sergio Perez’s race seat is under discussion. However, Helmut Marko also rules out that Lando Norris will switch to Red Bull in the short term.
“Norris has a contract until the end of 2026 at least, so he is not an option in the short term, neither is Oscar Piastri,” said Marko. “But both drivers certainly interest us for the future.”
