After the Chinese GP, the Alpine F1 team was fined 10,000 euros for causing a dangerous situation in the pit lane.
During a pit stop, Pierre Gasly was given the green light while the right rear wheel was not safely secured on Gasly’s Alpine F1 car. Remarkably, both a team member and the electronic system that monitors the correct installation of the tires indicated that everything was okay.
Gasly drove away but immediately received the signal that something was wrong. The right rear tire was then properly secured and Gasly was able to drive away again, but a member of the pit crew was slightly injured during the incident. Despite the minor injury, he was able to continue working for the rest of the race.
The stewards decided to investigate the incident and ruled that Pierre Gasly was not at fault. However, the team was found guilty of ‘failing to put the car in a safe condition during the race’. That is why the stewards decided to fine the Alpine F1 team 10,000 euros.
