The Motorola Edge 50 Pro was recently launched in Europe with a curved 6.7” OLED screen (144Hz) and a back made of (vegan) leather or wood. It boasts a fancy look and comes with a price tag of €700.
Compared to last year’s Edge 40 Pro, the screen on the Edge 50 Pro has a higher resolution (1220p+ vs. 1080p+) and a longer telephoto lens (3x vs. 2x). The wireless charging for the 4,500mAh battery has also been upgraded to 50W (from 15W) and offers 125W wired charging. However, the new Pro model comes with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which seems like a step down from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in its predecessor. If you’re looking for more power, it might be worth waiting for the Edge 50 Ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 saw a fairly minor upgrade, incorporating an LTPO panel for the screen among other minor changes such as a slight increase in screen size from 6.1” to 6.2” and a battery capacity upgrade from 3,900mAh to 4,000mAh. While the Exynos 2400 processor performed well, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 prevails as a formidable competitor.
In comparison, the Galaxy S23 remains priced at less than €600 for the 128GB version, while the 256GB variant costs €630. Keep in mind that the S24 series receives superior software support with 7 years of OS and security updates, but at a higher price point. The S23 still has 3 OS updates and 4 years of patches ahead, along with Galaxy AI features introduced by the S24 series.
For those interested, the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is available for €670 for the 8/256GB unit, while the more substantial S24+ upgrade, boasting a 1440p+ LTPO screen and 12GB of RAM, is currently priced at €1,150 by Samsung Germany.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, priced at €620 for an 8/128GB unit, comes with the Exynos 2200 chipset, which falls short of the capabilities of the 2400. This makes the decision between the S23 and S23 FE quite straightforward.
Only one configuration of the Motorola Moto G84 remains in stock, featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage at a price of €230. While the Snapdragon 695 may not be the most powerful, the phone offers a 6.5” 120Hz OLED display (1080p+ with 10-bit colors), a 50MP main camera (1/1.5”, OIS), 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, and a 5,000mAh battery with 30W charging support.
For those in search of an affordable tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 is currently available at a discounted price, offering up to €150 off. Sporting an 8.7” LCD display (1,340 x 800 px) and powered by the Helio G99 chipset, this tablet also features a 5,100mAh battery with 15W charging support.
