After a convincing win in the sprint race at the Shanghai International Circuit, Max Verstappen secured an easy pole position for the Chinese GP. Verstappen reflects on his qualifying performance with great satisfaction.
The contrast between the wet conditions of the sprint race qualifying and the dry conditions of the Sunday race qualifying was significant. Verstappen felt a marked improvement in the performance of his RB20 in the dry conditions, allowing him to secure pole position effortlessly.
“The insights gained from the sprint race helped us fine-tune the car setup, and it performed even better in qualifying,” Verstappen commented after the session. “I am really pleased with how qualifying unfolded, the car felt very stable, and the final lap in Q3 was particularly strong.”
“I am also delighted that we had the opportunity to compete in dry conditions here. The track conditions were optimal, and I thoroughly enjoyed the session.”
