After qualifying for the Chinese GP, Fernando Alonso was very satisfied with the result achieved, although he also had to admit that he almost lost control of his F1 car during his fast lap.
It was already in the first long bend that Alonso almost lost control of his Aston Martin F1 car and his fast lap was almost over. However, Alonso managed to catch his car and ultimately set the third fastest time, a lap time that could actually have been even better and therefore closer to the lap times of the Red Bulls.
“In the first sector I had a moment in the first and second corners, I almost lost control of the car,” said Alonso. “Then I said ‘OK, I’ll either continue or I’ll abort the lap’, because I probably lost about two tenths in those two corners.”
“But I didn’t give up, I kept pushing throughout the lap and drove a good lap time. I think the car was better compared to this morning. We made some adjustments to the setup. Let us see what it will bring tomorrow and whether we can gain points with it.”
