WhatsApp has introduced Chat Filters in the application to enhance users’ experience. The social media giant, owned by Meta, announced this latest feature in a blog post.
Explanation of WhatsApp Chat Filters
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, stated that the introduction of chat filters will enable WhatsApp users to locate messages quickly. This new feature focuses on reducing the time spent opening a chat in the social media app and accessing the correct conversations.
The idea behind the filters feature arose when users began using WhatsApp for various official and personal tasks. This feature will assist users in finding the right conversation without having to scroll through their entire inbox.
WhatsApp has introduced three default filters to help users access the right conversation. Here are the steps to access the chat filters in the Meta-owned social media giant.
- Open WhatsApp on your Android or iOS smartphone and ensure it is updated to the latest version.
- At the top of your chats, tap on the three filters: All, Unread, and Groups, based on your requirements.
All: The “All” filter can be selected to display all chats, including personal and group chats.
Unread: The “Unread” filter will only display messages that have not been opened by the user. It will also show messages marked as unread by the user after opening the chat.
Groups: WhatsApp Groups are popular among users, and the number of groups has increased with the introduction of WhatsApp Communities. The “Groups” filter will display all groups the user is part of and the subgroups of Communities.
WhatsApp mentions that the Chat Filters will be rolled out to users worldwide starting today. Users interested in accessing the feature should ensure their app is updated to the latest version using the Google Play Store or App Store.
