Jean-Eric Vergne is pleased that Max Verstappen recently spoke positively about Formula E, the electric counterpart of Formula 1.
Following the Japanese GP, Max Verstappen was asked for his thoughts on Formula E, which is currently in its tenth season. In the past, many F1 drivers have criticized Formula E, but Max Verstappen showed his support for the series, stating that “there are a lot of good drivers in Formula E.”
These complimentary remarks were well-received by Jean-Eric Vergne. Vergne himself competed in Formula 1 for three seasons before transitioning to Formula E, and he believes that Max Verstappen is well-placed to offer an opinion on both series.
“Some drivers don’t really know what they’re talking about, some just speak negatively about Formula E,” Vergne told ‘AutoMoto’. “Max watches as many races as he can and he is friends with many of the drivers in Formula E. It’s great to hear positive comments from Max.”
“Considering the variety of races he watches in F1 and his simulator experience, I think he has a good grasp of what’s happening in these cars.”
According to Vergne, comprehending Formula E cars is more challenging than understanding F1 cars or those in the WEC.
“I don’t know if we are the most technically demanding racing series, but I can say for sure that I have more to study in Formula E compared to the WEC or F1,” Vergne explained. “There are numerous parameters that a driver must grasp to succeed, not just focusing on tire management or speed, but also other crucial factors that need to be mastered.”
“When a new driver enters Formula E, it’s like going back to school because there is so much to learn. There are numerous aspects that need to be understood and mastered.”
