After a tumultuous start to the season, the Alpine F1 team has made significant efforts to enhance the performance of their car and achieve better results. Despite the limited testing opportunities due to only one practice session in the race weekend in China, Alpine has managed to introduce an update for one of their cars.
Esteban Ocon will be the driver to receive the update on his car, while his teammate Pierre Gasly will continue to drive with the older package. The strategic decision to have one car with the update and one without allows Alpine to make a direct comparison and gather valuable data for future updates on Ocon’s car.
“The recent race in Japan once again highlighted the extensive challenge we face in improving our performance,” stated Alpine team principal Bruno Famin. “It is crucial for us to enhance the car’s performance in order to compete for better positions. While the introduction of our initial updates in Suzuka was a positive step, there is still more work to be done.”
“The team has put in tremendous effort, and we have successfully implemented the updates on one car for the upcoming weekend, one race ahead of schedule.
Esteban Ocon will benefit from the new floor being fitted onto his Alpine F1 car, while Gasly will continue to use the old floor. With the sprint format in place for this weekend, Alpine will have limited time during the single practice session to thoroughly assess the updates on Ocon’s car. A decision will then be made on whether he will participate in qualifying for the sprint race and the remainder of the weekend.”
