The 32-year-old Vandoorne had to leave at the back of the pack after finishing seventeenth in the qualifications. Australian Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) had pole. The Kortrijkzaan steadily advanced, even rode to the front for a while, but ultimately did not play for the podium. The 2022 world champion finished eight seconds behind winner Da Costa.
The 32-year-old Da Costa, who won the world title in 2020, achieved his first victory of the season ahead of the British Oliver Rowland (Nissan Formula E Team) and Jake Dennis (Andretti Formula E).
In the world championship standings, Rowland leads with 73 points ahead of Dennis (68 points). Vandoorne (eighth, fourteenth, fifth, eighth and sixteenth earlier this season) collected a point with his tenth place and is in twelfth place with nineteen points.
Another ePrix is scheduled for the Circuit Marco Simoncelli tomorrow/Sunday. In two weeks (April 27), the World Championship for electric cars will move to Monaco for the eighth round. The championship is then halfway over.
