Fernando Alonso remains active in Formula 1 with Aston Martin. The two-time world champion has extended his contract and will continue to drive for the team until 2026.
Alonso will turn 43 in July, but the Spaniard has no plans to stop. He already announced earlier this year that it was his intention to stay with Aston Martin, but was also linked with a switch to Red Bull and Mercedes. For example, he already had a conversation with Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.
His contract extension makes it clear that Alonso will still be active in the premier class in 2026, when the rules in Formula 1 are changed again. From that year onwards, Aston Martin collaborated with Honda as an engine supplier. Alonso did not have the best relationship with the Japanese manufacturer during his years as a McLaren driver, to say the least. In the following seasons, Honda, in collaboration with Red Bull Racing, proved that it could indeed build an excellent Formula 1 power source.
