Redmi President Thomas Wang has announced that the Xiaomi brand is launching a new series called Turbo, aimed at offering raw performance. The first phone in this series will be named Redmi Turbo 3, potentially replacing the Redmi Note 13 Turbo.
During a social media post and Q&A session, Wang shared that the Turbo series aims to revolutionize the midrange market. While the Redmi K phones will stay as flagship-level devices, the Redmi Turbo phones will be positioned as flagship killers, offering high performance at a lower price point. The Redmi Note line will continue to cater to midrange consumers, expanding the brand’s smartphone range.
The name Turbo 3 signifies the phone’s focus on raw performance at an affordable price, sacrificing other flagship features. This device follows the Redmi Note 11T Pro and the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, indicating a clear pattern in Redmi’s naming convention. It’s unlikely that we will see a Note 13 Turbo anytime soon, and it’s still uncertain whether the phone will be launched as the Poco F6, as the Poco series is not available in China.
This new addition to the Redmi lineup further blurs the boundaries between flagship, premium, and midrange smartphones. The previous Redmi Note releases had numerous variants – the 11 series had 18 versions, while the 12 series had 13 variants, offering little differentiation between them.
