Stoffel Vandoorne (DS Penske) finished in sixteenth place on Saturday in the ePrix of Japan, the fifth round of the Formula E world championship. German Maximilian Günther (Maserati MSG Racing) took victory in Tokyo.
The 32-year-old Vandoorne finished eighteenth in the qualifications. Britain's Oliver Rowland (Nissan Formula E Team) topped those qualifications ahead of Günther who finished second. But in the ePrix the tables were turned and the German won ahead of the Brit. Another Briton completed the podium with Jake Dennis (Andretti Formula E).

In the world championship standings, both New Zealander Nick Cassidy (Jaguar TCS Racing), who had to settle for seventh place in Tokyo, and German Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team), fifth on Saturday, are in the lead. 63 points. Vandoorne (eighth, fourteenth, fifth and eighth earlier this season) did not collect any points after finishing sixteenth and is in thirteenth place with eighteen points.
The sixth World Cup round is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 in Misano, Italy. There are sixteen races in total.
