Earlier this week, Sebastian Vettel tested a Le Mans hypercar from Porsche, but rumors about a possible F1 comeback by Sebastian Vettel appear regularly. Vettel himself now admits that he has already thought about a possible F1 comeback.
At the end of 2022, Sebastian Vettel said goodbye to Formula 1, a final farewell it seemed, but never say never also seems to apply here because over the past year and a half, rumors and speculation about Sebastian Vettel and a possible F1 comeback have regularly surfaced.
The fact is that Vettel never completely cut ties with Formula 1 and motorsport. For example, he already drove an F1 demo with an old Red Bull F1 car and of course there was also a test with a hypercar from Porsche earlier this week.
Especially when the news of Lewis Hamilton’s announced switch from Mercedes to Ferrari became known, Sebastian Vettel’s name immediately came up. Vettel himself also admits that he has already thought about a return to Formula 1.
“Of course you think about it and flirt with it,” Vettel told the German TV channel ‘RTL’. However, Vettel also enjoys his time with family and children and returning to Formula 1 would certainly put enormous pressure on his family life, especially with an F1 calendar consisting of 24 races.
“Sometimes it happens that one of my children says: ‘Dad, don’t do that, you’ll be away so much.’”
“I’ve really enjoyed the last year and a half, I’ve really enjoyed my time with the kids and hopefully they’ve enjoyed it too.”
“Maybe my opinion will change again, but things are going well at the moment.”
“There are 24 races on the calendar and apart from that I know how I would like to see everything structured in my job if I decide to do it”
“It is not an obstacle that there are other interests in life. not only people and relationships but also other things that interest me and motivate me.”
When Vettel is asked whether he has had contact with Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff, he admits that there has indeed been a conversation.
“We talked on the phone. Of course we talked about the fact that there is a lot going on at Mercedes, but not specifically about the fact that I would take the seat.”
