In Australia a strange incident occurred in which a crash took place between Nikola Tsolov and Alex Dunne. Tsolov appeared to deliberately hit Dunne, after which the latter crashed. Tsolov ultimately received 'only' a grid penalty of three places for his collision.
Commotion in F3 because there was a collision between Nikola Tsolov and Alex Dunne. The manner in which the collision occurred in particular caused quite a commotion in the paddock. After all, Tsolov seemed to deliberately drive into Dunne.
Footage shows Dunne weaving to warm up his tires. Nikola Tsolov collided at high speed during a fast lap but held back behind Alex Dunne after which Dunne moved aside to make way for Tsolov. Tsolov then drove next to Dunne but then drove to the right and into Dunne, after which the latter crashed into the wall while Tsolov was able to continue driving.
Commentator Chris McCarthy shouted out and spoke of a very dangerous incident that would certainly be investigated by the stewards. According to many insiders, the stewards ultimately judged the incident fairly leniently: a three-place grid penalty for Tsolov. Dunne in turn received a warning for not checking his mirrors for fast cars coming from behind.
