DxOMark experts have conducted a test on the main camera of the flagship smartphone Honor Magic6 Pro. The new product not only broke three laboratory records but also emerged as a leader in the global ranking. DxOMark has provided insights into the qualities that helped the smartphone secure the first place.
The 50-megapixel main module of the Honor Magic6 Pro with optical stabilization is paired with a lens having an EGF of 24 mm and an adjustable aperture with a value range from f/1.4 to f/2.0. The rear unit also consists of the following cameras:
- Ultra-wide-angle: 50 MP, 1/2.88, 13 mm, f/2.0, autofocus
- Periscope: 180 MP, 1/1.4, 68 mm (2x zoom), f/2.6, autofocus, optical stabilization
According to experts, the Magic6 Pro displayed excellent results in almost all usage scenarios, surpassing the previous model significantly and showing no significant drawbacks. Thanks to its natural color reproduction and wide dynamic range, the smartphone excelled in various scenes, even in challenging lighting conditions.
The variable aperture also proved to be beneficial, enhancing the depth of field at f/2.0 compared to f/1.4, ensuring all individuals are in focus in group photos.
The maximum aperture also lived up to expectations, enabling the smartphone to secure the first laboratory record for background blur quality. The second record concerns the color reproduction’s naturalness, and the third record focuses on the ultra-wide-angle module’s photo quality.
Additionally, experts appreciated the accurate exposure selection, effective portrait photography optimization, and speedy, precise focusing. The drawbacks noticed include occasional unnatural details in some scenes, differences in frame sharpness during video recording on-the-go, artifacts when capturing high-contrast scenes, and motion blur when photographing portraits in poor lighting conditions.
Based on the testing results, Honor Magic6 Pro secured the top spot in both the global camera phone ranking and its price category.
