The 23-year-old Limburger returned to Belgium soon after his fall and reported on social media on Friday that he had undergone “an operation on the left elbow and right collarbone” in the hospital in Genk. It was not specified how long he would be out of action.
This season, Jago Geerts switched to the MXGP, the highest class in motorsport.
He is not the only Belgian motocross rider involved in an accident during the Grand Prix of Patagonia. The second MXGP rider, Brent Van Doninck, suffered a broken femur after a fall in the qualifying race. The 28-year-old Kempen resident had to stay in Argentina for surgery and was transferred to Buenos Aires where he was still waiting for surgery on Friday.
