The Belgians had a poor start to the new MXGP season. Both Jago Geerts (23) and Brent Van Doninck (28) suffered fractures. The latter must wait in an Argentinian hospital until suitable material is available before he can be operated on.
Brent Van Doninck needs surgery after breaking his thigh, but his manager Jacky Martens tells Sporza that the operation is quite expensive.
“We are now waiting for material, they are looking where they can find it to operate on him. It is not possible to move him, they expect to operate on him on Wednesday.”
“It is not as medically developed here as Belgium. He is now full of morphine and is in a lot of pain. We just have to wait and see, a thigh fracture is one of the most painful fractures,” says Martens.
“We have to keep thinking positively, Brent is also very positive himself. He wants to progress as quickly as possible, but we are dependent on the hospital.”
