Audi will fully take over the Sauber racing stable upon its entry into Formula 1 in 2026. The German car manufacturer is thus going further than its previously announced commitment. Audi originally wanted to take a 75 percent stake in the Swiss team. Audi announced this in a press release on Friday.
Audi reached an agreement with the current majority shareholder Islero Investments AG to acquire one hundred percent of the shares in Sauber Holding AG.
Sauber will become Audi's factory team in 2026. German Andreas Seidl, currently CEO of Sauber Motorsport, will then hold the same position at the Audi team. “We have ambitious goals,” says the former McLaren team boss. “We are working hard to realize this and this process will be accelerated by the full takeover of Sauber by Audi.”
