According to Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur, Max Verstappen’s dominant victory in Bahrain does not necessarily guarantee that Red Bull will once again become world champion. Vasseur is optimistic that Ferrari will be able to provide a tougher challenge for Red Bull throughout the season.
Last year, Red Bull started the season on a high note with a commanding double victory in Bahrain. Max Verstappen finished first, more than twenty seconds ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez. This early success for Red Bull might suggest a predictable title battle this season.
However, Vasseur believes that Ferrari and other competitors can give Red Bull a run for their money in the upcoming races. Bahrain tends to be a circuit where Red Bull performs well, but there are still plenty of races left for Ferrari to bridge the gap and challenge the reigning champions.
“There are 24 races,” Vasseur pointed out. “Last year, we showed strong performance in the latter part of the season, with multiple pole positions in the closing races. We have a long season ahead of us with opportunities for car development.”
“Despite the challenges of tire degradation in Bahrain, we were competitive in qualifying. This indicates that we have the potential to fight for pole positions and race wins in the future.”
“Our team is highly motivated, and we will continue to push forward. I am pleased with the progress we have made compared to last year, and I am committed to maintaining this momentum,” Vasseur added.
