Everything Else We Know So Far
No smartphones in India currently support satellite connectivity due to the restrictions imposed by the Government of India. Apple has also limited the use of satellite connectivity for its users in the US and Canada.
Google will also include an option that allows users to review the type of information shared with emergency services. Pixel smartphones will also be able to share information from their Google accounts with three emergency contacts.
Google reiterates the list of information shared with emergency services in a footnote.
When you connect with emergency services via satellite, your name, email, phone number, location, device information (IMEI, language, model, battery level), and emergency information are shared with emergency services and satellite service providers.
Google is expected to introduce satellite connectivity for Pixel smartphone users in other countries in the coming monthsand its availability in India is currently unknown. The search engine giant also has a page that will display the countries supporting satellite connectivity, which is yet to be activated.
