Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner has been acquitted of sexual misconduct by the lawyer engaged by the racing stable. A spokesperson for the head office in Austria confirmed this on Wednesday.
“The independent investigation into the allegations against Mr Horner has been completed and Red Bull can confirm that the complaint has been dismissed,” the statement said. “The reporter has the right to appeal. Red Bull is confident that the investigation was fair, rigorous and impartial. The investigation report is confidential and contains the private information of the parties and third parties who participated in the investigation. Out of respect for all involved, we will therefore make no further comment. Red Bull will continue to strive to meet the highest standards in the workplace.”
The Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf previously revealed that an employee had filed charges against Horner (50) for sexual misconduct. The lawyer engaged by Red Bull therefore does not agree with those allegations and acquits the team boss and CEO, who has been associated with the racing team since the beginning of 2005.
Saga around Horner not over yet
Horner boarded a plane to Bahrain on Wednesday, where the first race of the season will be held next Saturday. As stated in the statement, the reporter still has the opportunity to appeal. Insiders previously stated that she is also considering other legal steps. Insiders previously stated that she is also considering other legal action after she previously – as reported by De Telegraaf – rejected a proposal to settle the case for £650,000.
The saga surrounding Horner does not seem to end there. There is a lot going on behind the scenes at Red Bull. American partner Ford also increased the pressure earlier and demanded more transparency and clarity about the investigation.
