The Monegasque completed his fastest lap at the Sakhir Circuit in 1:30.322. This made him 46 thousandths of a second faster than the British George Russell (Mercedes). The third fastest time was somewhat surprisingly achieved by the Chinese Zhou Guanyu (Kick Sauber). Three-time and reigning world champion Max Verstappen set the fourth fastest time in his Red Bull, 433 thousandths behind Leclerc. The Monegasque did that on faster soft tires.
The first GP will be held in Bahrain on Saturday, March 2.
