George Russell has revealed that he has received calls from other drivers about Lewis Hamilton's racing seat that will become available at Mercedes at the end of this season.
Since the announcement that Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes at the end of this season to switch to Ferrari, rumors have been buzzing about possible replacements for Hamilton. Teammate George Russell now reveals that he has already received telephone calls from several other drivers about the race seat that will become available.
“Ultimately it is Toto Wolff who has to decide,” says George Russell when asked if he has anything to say about the choice of his new teammate. “We have already had conversations about it and I visited Toto many times last winter, it was quite funny to see the names of different riders appear on my mobile phone.”
“Even on my phone I got some calls and messages, it was quite interesting. As a team we now have a good opportunity and we are in a very good position to start our next chapter, there have been so many successes with Lewis and Mercedes.”
According to Russel, nothing has changed in the attitude of the team members.
“So far the dynamics in the team haven't changed at all. I think everyone is very professional, we all know what our job is.”
“The engineers are just motivated to try to deliver the fastest car possible and Lewis is still motivated to do his utmost. So it feels like nothing has changed within the team.”
