Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) is in fourth place on Saturday evening after 15 special stages in the Rally of Sweden, the second round of the WRC championship. He was the fastest in the three last chrono tests.
On Saturday afternoon, Neuville had advanced from eleventh to fifth after the first three special stages of the day, 2:42.9 behind his Finnish teammate Esapekka Lappi. Lappi ended the day in the lead, with a lead of 1:06.3 over Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux (Ford Puma) and 1:23.0 over Welshman Elfyn Evans (Toyota). Neuville follows at 2:22.1.
With this ranking, Neuville gains 10 points for the rankings, provided he does not give up on Sunday. He is the virtual World Cup leader with 40 points, ahead of Evans (34) and Fourmaux (26).
Grégoire Munster (Ford) made a mistake in the 15th stage. He was in 14th place when he hit a wall of snow. He was stuck for almost fifteen minutes and is now 24th, 22:53.3 behind Lappi.
Three more stages are scheduled for Sunday, including the final Power Stage. The successor on Ott Tänak's honors list will be announced around 12:30 PM.
