After years of working on a possible F1 participation, Formula 1 has shattered the F1 dream of Andretti Global Racing, at least for the next two years. Mario Andretti was the first from the Andretti family to respond.
According to Formula 1, Andretti as a new team would not be competitive enough and would not offer enough added value for Formula 1. The rejection has already hit the Andretti family particularly hard. Mario Andretti, meanwhile, reacted to the news of the rejection.
“I’m devastated,” the 1978 Formula 1 world champion said in a post on ‘X’, the former Twitter. “I’m not going to say anything anymore because I can’t find anything to say about it, I’m devastated.”
As it stands, Andretti Global Racing can only attempt to appear on the F1 starting grid again in 2028 or beyond at best. After all, partner General Motors would want to enter Formula 1 as an engine supplier.
