The Ferrari F1 team was the first of all F1 teams this season to take action with an F1 car on Monday. Obviously this was not the case with the new F1 car that will be presented to the general public on February 13.
During the morning, Carlos Sainz took action at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with the Ferrari SF-23, last year’s car, for a tire test by Pirelli. Teammate Charles Leclerc took over from Sainz in the afternoon. According to Pirelli, comparisons were made between the different prototype tires, with a particular focus on reducing tire overheating.
The Pirelli tire test was the first test this year. For Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, the test offered an opportunity to get used to the feeling in the car again, in preparation for the official F1 test in preparation for the new season.
Carlos Sainz completed a total of 79 laps with a best time of 1:15.610 while Charles Leclerc completed 60 laps with a best time of 1:16.097. A second test day followed on Tuesday, during which Charles Leclerc’s brother, Arthur Leclerc, also took action with the Ferrari F1 car.
