Lando Norris (24) has signed a new multi-year contract with McLaren. The British F1 racing stable has announced this. Both parties thus put an end to speculation that he would drive elsewhere after 2025.

The Briton with a Belgian mother became a reserve driver at McLaren in 2018. A year later he made his debut for the racing team in F1 (at the expense of Stoffel Vandoorne). Last season was his most successful, with 205 points he finished sixth in the World Cup final standings. Norris has completed 104 Grands Prix so far. He has already been on the podium thirteen times, but he has not yet been able to celebrate a victory.
Norris still had an agreement until the end of 2025, which he signed at the beginning of 2022.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Norris admitted that he also looked elsewhere. “I’m not going to lie about that, but it never went any further. For the team and the people working on the car, it is not nice to see or hear all kinds of rumors, so it is good that we have this off the track. Now the rumors can stop.”
“It is a great feeling to stay in papaya orange,” Norris now says in the press release about his extension. “I grew up at McLaren and feel at home here, the team is like family to me. The journey so far has been exciting, we have had ups and downs. But last season has shown that we want to be at the front again.”
“I am very pleased that we will continue our relationship with Lando for several years to come,” said CEO Zak Brown. “It has been a fantastic journey over the last six years and he has shown fantastic dedication and drive to take the team forward and return McLaren to the front of the grid.”
In September, Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri signed a new contract with McLaren. The Australian has a contract until the end of 2026. On Thursday, Monegasque Charles Leclerc tied his fate to Ferrari for longer.
