The Lotus Eletre is the electric car with the highest charging speed at the moment. With a base price of 98,690 euros, it is not cheap, but you can fast charge with over 300 kW. We believe that the fastest charging electric car is determined on the basis of the charging capacity, also known as charging speed. This is expressed in kilowatts (kW). Another method is to time how long it takes to go from 10 to 80 percent, but then electric cars with a small battery have a big advantage. Looking for an EV? Do you want to regularly read a range or fast charging test? Sign up for our newsletter! If there is one thing the Lotus Eletre does not have, it is a small battery: its battery pack is 109 kWh. The graph below shows how fast charging works, provided you plug in at the most powerful charging stations in the Netherlands. We clarify things with four captions. Tip Relax near Arnhem Do you want to enjoy a beautiful view over the Rhine and sleep close to the heart of Arnhem? Then go for a stay at NH Arnhem Rijnhotel****! Which electric car charges the fastest? When conditions are perfect, the Eletre can fast charge with no less than 355 kW. That’s ridiculously fast. Kia and Hyundai boast 230 to 240 kW, Tesla’s peaks at 250 kW and the electric Porsche Macan is on a new EV platform that supports 270 kW. Thanks to Lotus, these are already bad numbers. And fortunately, the Eletre largely lives up to its promises. On a cool winter evening we don’t see the magical peak of 355 kW, but 310 kW is impressive nonetheless. In fact, we have never charged so quickly before. With any test car. Moreover, the Lotus Eletre charges very quickly for a long time. This way, without the promised peak of 355 kW, we still go from 10 to 80 percent in 21 minutes. That’s only 1 minute slower than promised. And don’t forget how big the battery is: 109 kWh. If you drive at a speed of 100 km/h, you can go almost 300 kilometers before the Eletre surprises you again at the fast charger. This is how fast charging works with the Lotus Eletre Ready Set Go! The charging power shoots past 200 kW and then to 300 kW. On a beautiful spring day, the magical peak of 355 kW is probably formed here. The Eletre charges up to 66 percent with more than 200 kW. Unbelievable. From 10 to 80 in 21 minutes. We would disconnect at 83 percent. This graph is part of the extensive EV file of the Lotus Eletre Auto Review #2.
