Samsung Showcases New AI Capabilities at Galaxy Unpacked Event
At yesterday’s Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung demonstrated a host of new AI capabilities as part of its Galaxy AI suite on the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung Newsroom has released a series of videos delving into these new Galaxy AI features in more detail.
One of the standout features is Live Translation, which offers two-way real-time voice translations in 13 languages directly from the Samsung phone app. Supported languages include Chinese, English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Thai, and Vietnamese. Samsung has also promised additional languages in future software updates. The translations are done on the device to ensure security during phone calls.
Transcription Assist is another notable feature, allowing users to transcribe, translate, and summarize voice recordings within the Samsung Voice Recorder app. It can even differentiate between different speakers in a single recording.
Chat Assist provides translation of messages into 13 supported languages within the Samsung Messages app and third-party messaging apps. It also offers suggestions for writing styles and tones based on the conversation.
Note Assist aims to help users summarize their notes within Samsung Notes, providing automatic formatting with various templates to choose from.
Generative modification allows users to highlight objects in images, resize and move them, or delete them entirely with the AI applying a content-aware fill. The Edit Suggest feature can automatically enhance images by adjusting the color profile and removing reflections.
Testers have had the opportunity to explore the new Galaxy S24 series and try out some of the Galaxy AI features. First impressions can be found here.
