The first looks at Samsung’s new flagship smartphones have already appeared online. For example, the Android Authority portal shared sample photos taken from the top-end Galaxy S24 Ultra. Particular attention was paid to shooting from a long distance, as the device lost a television camera with a 10x optical zoom.
The main difference between the Galaxy S24 Ultra and its predecessor was the replacement of the 10-megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom with a 50-megapixel camera with 5x zoom. The rest of the cameras remained unchanged: 200 MP wide-angle, 12 MP ultra-wide-angle and 10 MP portrait with 3x zoom. In the examples above, you can see how the Galaxy S24 Ultra shoots at different zoom levels. Interestingly, in the case of shots on the street at 30x zoom, the quality is frankly poor, but in the second scenario with a sign, everything turned out great. At the same time, 10x zoom works very well.
In other scenarios, no dramatic changes compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra are visible at first glance. It is possible that direct comparison will reveal some improvements or, which is possible, deterioration.
In portrait mode, the Galaxy S24 Ultra does a good job of separating the main subject from the background. Selfies outdoors in good lighting turn out to be of high quality, as well as indoors when there is enough light.
